  • So You Want to be a TV Writer?

    ✍️ Mastering the skills necessary to become a writer is as challenging as it is rewarding, trying to make a living as one can be even more daunting. This four week program is designed as a fast-paced bootcamp for the aspiring TV writer – a behind-the-scenes studio tour of everything NOT “on the page.”

    📌 Topics covered will include: development, staffing, representation, networking, the structure of the business, breaking in, series & pilot production, writers’ room & set etiquette, the life of a showrunner, and so much more. This course won't be focused on the craft of writing, but instead will give students a holistic understanding of the industry and what it takes to carve out a career as a writer.

    🫵 Whether you’re on the cusp of breaking in, or just testing the waters, “So you want to be a TV writer…” is a trove of invaluable insider information for anyone who dreams of getting paid to do the thing they love.

    Week 1 – The Lay of The Land: studios and networks and agencies, Oh, my!

    Week 2 – How the Sausage is Made: financing, development, and production.

    Week 3 – Breaking In: networking, samples, programs, reps, meetings, staffing

    Week 4 – You Made It! Now what?: the writers’ room, prep, set, and post.

    👋🏼 About Blake:

    Blake Taylor is a writer and producer of television and video games, with over fifteen years of industry experience, including a decade in writers’ rooms and on-set. He has written on multiple series for CBS and The CW, as well as video games for Naughty Dog and Bungie. In addition, he has broad experience in animation, network TV development, and talent representation, giving him a clear view of the entire business. Blake lives in Los Angeles with his wife, two sons, two cats, and three ducks. 🦆

  • Self Tape Tune Up with Award Winning CSA, Helen Geier

    In this class, Helen will provide an update on the current landscape of industry auditions and share key insights for successful self-taping. 🎬✨

    You will receive two separate audition assignments to self-tape and submit to her. Helen will then provide personalized feedback and detailed notes. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to perform the auditions live, incorporating her redirects. This is a fantastic chance to receive unbiased, honest feedback from a casting professional with over 20 years of experience. 🎥🌟
